Ras Mumhan 2015

Stage 3 - Waterville-Ballinskelligs-Portmagee-Coom an Easpaigh-Waterville. 142km.

Stage 3 started and finished in Waterville. A 142km stage around the roads of South Kerry which was an extremely rolling route and also took in the Category 1 climb of Coom an Easpaigh. Unfortunately Brian Harte who picked up a nasty injury on yesterdays stage was out of the Ras Mumhan. So Jerry, Cormac, Neil and Gareth lined up for Tralee Manor West this morning in beautiful sunshine. However strong winds added to an already tough day. Neil had a mechanical and had to switch bikes but battled on and rode very strongly. Cormac, Jerry and Gareth also impressed again today. Best of luck for the final day in Killorglin in the morning. The guys would particularly like to thank all the Tralee Manor West club members who have been giving them huge support along the roads over the past three days. It has meant a huge deal to them so thanks guys.

Lacey Cup 2015 - Sun Feb 22nd

Its Lacey Cup time again, the grand opener to the Munster racing season. This year again, due to CI rule T5.1.11 there will be a separate A4 race should the entries exceed 140 riders. The A4 Race will be immediately AFTER the A1/A2/A3  race. Total Prize fund is in excess of €1000.

Tralee Manor West BC's annual race the "Lacey Cup"  is a 75km race. The A1/A2/A3 race is run on a handicap basis ( A4 run individually ) and starts from Manor West Hotel, Tralee with a neutralised roll out at 12:10pm.

The race is held on the Dingle Peninsula and takes the riders from the Dingle road outside of Tralee through Blennerville, on to Camp and up Gleann na nGealt for the first Prime, this climb comes after 15km of racing and is 4km long averaging 3% gradient. Once over the top of Gleann na nGealt the race continues to Annascaul where the riders will turn left just outside the village on to Inch and Castlemaine. Then another left turn at Castlemaine and onto the start of the prime at the top of the Slieve Mish climb after 62km for the Teddy Griffin Trophy, the climb is also 4km long and averages 2.8% gradient, before the descent to the finish at Skehanagh just outside the town of Tralee on the N70 (Tralee-Killorglin Road).

The 75km route is one complete loop of a challenging route and tests the strongest of riders with the two climbs and rolling roads from start to finish. Click on link below for race route:

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year

Tralee Manor West BC would like to wish all its members, families & friends and all at Manor West Hotel, a Merry Christmas and the very best for 2015. Thanks to all those who supported & helped out in 2014, and well done to the lads for a great year of racing, rock on 2015 !!

2014 Christmas Club Hamper Race

The 2014 Christmas Club Hamper Race was held this morning in very mild, dry conditions for the time of year but with a strong wind it contributed to a tough race. There was a great attendance for the race, which was split into two groups with a 6min handicap. The first group went off from the Iron bridge, setting a very steady pace in the windy conditions, followed 6 mins later by the scratch group. Cathal Moynihan set a blistering pace from the gun, which took its toll in the first few kms and split the scratch bunch into two groups. Good teamwork by the last group saw them narrowing the gap coming into Farranfore, however after the turn for the airport, the tailwind saw Moynihan's group pull together and extend their lead back out again. All three groups made short work of the tailwind section, but the home stretch was again a tough windy slog, which the saw Moynihan's group eat into the leaders time gap, catching them with 3 kms to go. It was all together at the top of the hill before the descent to the finish line, and in the final gallop it was Cathal Moynihan who took the win, with Mike Leahy second, and Michael O'Sullivan in third. Afterwards, Prizes were presented back in Manor West Hotel, where riders also enjoyed well appreciated hot refreshments. Micheal O'Callaghan won the raffle for the hamper. Thanks to all who took part and also a special thanks to Martin Lacey, Bernard Keane, Dan Moynihan, Tom Sheehy and Michael O'Callaghan for the excellent marshalling , lead cars, and moto marshall. Big thanks as always to Manor West Hotel, and of course to Whytes Centra of Kenmare & Castleisland who sponsored the beautiful hamper for the raffle.
